How Dota patches work

Number patches are bigA new number (7.40, 7.41) means a large gameplay update. Letter patches (7.41a, b, c…) are balance follow-ups.
New heroes come with updatesMost new heroes arrive with a big patch or event – Largo came with 7.40.
Relearn the map7.33 and 7.38 moved Roshan, objectives and paths. Old guides from before 2023 may show the wrong map.
Watch the TI patchValve usually releases a balance patch before The International (7.41e in 2026) and another after it (7.41f).
