Counter-Strike 2 has two ways to rank up. Premier gives you one public number – your CS Rating – across the whole Active Duty map pool. Competitive gives you a classic badge, from Silver I to The Global Elite, for each map separately.
We're in Premier Season 5, which started on July 8, 2026, together with Cache's return to the Active Duty pool.
Competitive5v5 on one map you choose. You get a separate skill group for every map.
Wingman2v2 on small maps, with its own separate ranks.
How seasons work
Prime StatusAll ranked modes need Prime Status, which you buy once on Steam.
Win 10 to get ratedA new account – and everyone at the start of a season – is unrated until they've won 10 Premier matches.
SeasonsPremier runs in seasons of several months. Season 5 started on July 8, 2026.
Season medalWin 25 Premier matches and have an active rating at the end of a season to get a medal. Its colour shows your best rating; one bar per 25 wins, up to five.
All ranks
The CS Rating colours below are the bands Valve shows next to your number. Crossing one changes the colour of your rating – nothing else.
