Ranked in League of Legends has 10 tiers. From lowest to highest: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster and Challenger. The first seven are split into four divisions each (IV is the lowest, I the highest). The top three – the apex tiers – have no divisions: they are one big leaderboard sorted by LP.

How ranked works

Unlock rankedRanked opens at summoner level 30 once you own at least 20 champions.
PlacementsYour first 5 ranked games decide your starting rank. You can't place higher than Diamond III.
League Points (LP)Wins give LP, losses take it. Reach 100 LP to move up a division; drop below 0 and you can demote.
Demotion protectionDropping from one tier to the one below has some protection, so one loss at 0 LP won't always send you down.
DecayFrom Diamond up you must keep playing. Inactive players slowly lose LP.
Victorious skinWin 15 ranked games in a season (Solo/Duo and Flex count together) to earn that season's Victorious skin.

The apex tiers

  • Master starts at 0 LP – you get there by reaching 100 LP in Diamond I.
  • Grandmaster needs at least 200 LP and Challenger at least 500 LP, and both have a limited number of seats per server. The ladder updates once a day, so you have to stay ahead of other players to keep your spot.
  • Ranks get a soft reset at the start of each year, and every new season brings new rewards.

Ranked queues

Ranked Solo/DuoThe main ladder. Queue alone or with one friend.
Ranked FlexQueue with a group of friends. A separate rank from Solo/Duo.
Ranked 5sNew in 2026: a ranked queue for full five-player teams, open during set hours.
