How to Get Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds: Unlock, Parts, Crafting and Reinforcement
Unlock Artian weapons, farm parts from Tempered monsters, pick the right three-part recipe at Gemma and reinforce all five levels – up to date for Ver. 1.042.

Sooner or later, almost every Monster Hunter Wilds player trades their monster weapons for an Artian weapon. These are the game's build-your-own endgame weapons: you put them together from parts that Tempered monsters drop, then roll random bonuses on top. A well-rolled Rarity 8 Artian is a staple of endgame builds, and it's the base you need for the newer Gogma Artian upgrade.
This guide is up to date for Ver. 1.042.00.03, the current version since late October 2026. None of the recent patches have changed how normal Artian weapons drop or roll. The biggest Artian change since launch, the Gogma Artian upgrade, came with Title Update 4 in December 2025.
Quick answer
| Unlock | HR 20, then clear the Chapter 4 assignment against a Tempered Lala Barina and Guardian Fulgur Anjanath |
| Parts come from | Tempered monsters, as bonus rewards after the hunt |
| Crafted at | Gemma at the Smithy – "Forge Artian Weapons" |
| Recipe | Three parts of the same rarity, in a fixed mix per weapon type |
| Best tier | Rarity 8 (Tempered Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, Jin Dahaad, Gore Magala, Arkveld) |
| Reinforcement | Five levels, one random bonus each; 15,000 points (50 Oricalcite) for a full Rarity 8 weapon |
Requirements
- High Rank and HR 20. Artian weapons are part of the High Rank endgame.
- The Chapter 4 assignment "Thundering Flowers." It has you hunt a Guardian Fulgur Anjanath and a Tempered Lala Barina. Clearing it opens up Tempered investigations and Artian crafting.
- Ore for reinforcement. You can craft without it, but a weapon only gets good once it's reinforced, and that takes a lot of ore.
Step 1: Farm Artian parts from Tempered monsters
- Hunt Tempered monsters. They start roaming the maps once the system is unlocked. Artian parts show up as appraised bonus rewards at the end of the hunt, so you only see what you got after the quest.
- Climb the rarity ladder. Part rarity depends on which Tempered monster you hunt. You'll start on Rarity 6 parts, move up to Rarity 7, and finally reach Rarity 8.
- Target Rarity 8 monsters. The top tier comes from the Tempered versions of Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, Jin Dahaad, Gore Magala and Arkveld.
- Save good hunts as Investigations. Talk to Alma at the Quest Counter (or use the map) to save a Tempered monster as an Investigation. Each saved Investigation can be run three times, which beats one-off Field Surveys for farming.
Every part has three traits: its type (Blade, Tube, Disc or Device), its element, and an Artian bonus that's either Attack or Affinity. Parts don't come in fixed sets, so keep your spares.
Step 2: Forge the weapon at Gemma
- Talk to Gemma at the Smithy and choose Forge Artian Weapons.
- Pick your weapon type and slot in three parts that match its recipe. All three must be the same rarity.
- Set the element. Two parts with the same element give the weapon that element. Make all three match for a higher element value. Use three different elements to get a raw weapon with no element.
- Pick your bonuses. Each part's Attack or Affinity bonus carries over to the weapon. The preview shows the final stats before you confirm.
| Weapon | Parts |
|---|---|
| Great Sword | Blade, Blade, Tube |
| Long Sword | Blade, Tube, Tube |
| Sword & Shield | Blade, Tube, Disc |
| Dual Blades | Blade, Blade, Disc |
| Hammer | Disc, Disc, Tube |
| Hunting Horn | Disc, Device, Device |
| Lance | Blade, Disc, Disc |
| Gunlance | Disc, Disc, Device |
| Switch Axe | Blade, Blade, Device |
| Charge Blade | Blade, Disc, Device |
| Insect Glaive | Blade, Tube, Device |
| Light Bowgun | Tube, Device, Device |
| Heavy Bowgun | Disc, Tube, Device |
| Bow | Tube, Tube, Device |
Step 3: Reinforce it five times
- Gather ore. Reinforcement runs on Drearisite (20 points), Speklite (100), Argecite (200) and Oricalcite (300). Smelt unwanted monster parts at Roqul's Smelting Foundry in the Oilwell Basin, and claim your Festival Shares there.
- Reinforce at Gemma. Each weapon has five reinforcement levels, and every level adds one random bonus: Attack, Affinity, Element or Sharpness for melee weapons, with Ammo Capacity showing up on bowguns. A full Rarity 8 weapon costs 15,000 points, which works out to 50 Oricalcite. Since Ver. 1.020, the Smithy picks the materials for you automatically.
- Dismantle the misses. If the rolls are bad, dismantling the weapon at Gemma refunds the reinforcement materials. You don't get the three parts back.
The bonus rolls aren't fresh dice every time. They follow a fixed, hidden order for each weapon type and rarity, so quitting without saving and reloading won't change what you get. Advance the order by reinforcing cheap throwaway weapons of the same type and rarity, then spend your best parts once the roll you want is next.
What changed in recent updates
- Ver. 1.030 (Title Update 3): added a shortcut from the forge screen straight to reinforcement, plus sorting for the forge, reinforce and dismantle lists.
- Ver. 1.040 (Title Update 4): added the option to upgrade Rarity 8 Artians into Gogma Artian weapons and reinforce them at the Smithy, along with better sorting in the reinforce and dismantle menus. The upgrade needs materials from Gogmazios.
- Ver. 1.041 (February 2026): fixed weapon performance when unintended bonus combinations had been applied during reinforcement, for both Artian and Gogma Artian weapons.
- Ver. 1.042 and later: no changes to Artian weapons. The latest patch, Ver. 1.042.00.03, is a bug-fix update.
Tips
- Don't bother reinforcing Rarity 6 and 7 weapons long-term. They're stepping stones. Keep your ore for Rarity 8.
- Smelt, don't sell. Monster parts you no longer need are worth more as reinforcement ore at the Foundry, and a full Rarity 8 weapon eats a lot of it.
- Plan your bonuses around the element. Element weapons want Element and Sharpness rolls, raw builds want Attack, and bowguns benefit from Ammo Capacity.
Common mistakes
- Mixing rarities. A Rarity 7 part won't combine with two Rarity 8s. Gather three of the same tier first.
- Mismatching elements by accident. One wrong element doesn't ruin an element weapon, but three different elements always give a raw weapon.
- Save-scumming the rolls. Reloading doesn't change the next bonus. Advance the order with throwaway weapons instead.
- Running Field Surveys instead of saving Investigations. A saved Investigation gives you three runs at the same Tempered monster.
- Expecting dismantling to return parts. You get the ore back, not the parts. Only dismantle weapons you're sure you won't use.
