How ranked works

Unlock CompetitiveReach account level 20 to play ranked. Play Unrated, Swiftplay and Deathmatch until then.
Placement matchesYour first ranked games place you on the ladder.
Rank Rating (RR)Win to gain RR, lose to drop it. Reach 100 RR to move up a tier – from Iron 1 to Iron 2, and so on.
Immortal and RadiantAt the top, your place depends on the regional leaderboard. Radiant is only for the very best players in each region.

New ranked systems in 2026

Riot added several new ways to track how you play in the second half of 2026:

Performance ScoreA 0–500 score per match that replaced ACS in 13.06. It decides the MVP and scoreboard order.
Map RatingA private 0–500 rating with a C-to-S grade for each map, added in 13.08 for Competitive and Premier.
Rank LegacyYour Career page counts how many times you've reached each rank.
AccoladesStandout stats tracked per Act and across your career in Competitive and Premier.

Riot has also announced Competitive Flex and changes to Radiant for patch 14.00. Want to climb? Learn a few agents well and practise the current competitive maps.
