Barn Finds are back in Forza Horizon 6, and Japan has 15 of them, from a humble Nissan Pao to the Le Mans-winning Mazda 787B. But if you drive to a barn too early, you'll find nothing. Every Barn Find is locked behind your Discover Japan progress, not your Horizon Festival wristbands, and they show up in batches as you earn new stamps. Once you know how that system works, collecting all 15 is mostly a matter of exploring.

This guide is up to date for the current version of the game (Series 7 "City Life", live since November 2, 2026).

Quick answer

How many 15 Barn Find cars
Unlocked by Discover Japan stamps (seven tiers, Visitor to Master Explorer)
Per stamp Usually two barns, four at Pathfinder
On the map A search zone, not an exact pin
After you find one The car is restored over time, then appears in your garage
Skip the wait? Possible with credits, but rarely worth it

Requirements

  • Discover Japan progress. Check your rank under Campaign > Collection Journal > Discover Japan in the pause menu. Driving into a barn's area before you've earned the matching stamp won't trigger anything.
  • Time to explore. Discover Japan rewards exploring Japan, not winning wristband races. Wristbands lead you toward Legend Island. Stamps lead you to the barns.
  • Patience for restoration. A Barn Find can't be driven right away. Each one goes off to be repaired first.

Step 1: Earn Discover Japan stamps

The Discover Japan journal has seven stamp tiers. In order they are Visitor, Sightseer, Traveller, Pathfinder, Navigator, Adventurer and Master Explorer. You raise your rank by doing things around the map:

  • Story missions marked with yellow icons
  • Street races and touge battles
  • Smashing regional mascots
  • Food delivery jobs, by ranking them up
  • Buying houses and uncovering new regions of the map

You don't need to finish every activity to reach the top tier. A mix of everything gets you there. Mascots are a good way to start: each of the 200 mascots pays out 5,000 credits as well as journal progress, so they also fund the hunt.

Step 2: Know which barn each stamp unlocks

Each car is tied to a specific stamp. Here's the full list, grouped by tier:

Stamp Barn Find cars Region
1. Visitor 2005 Honda NSX-R GT Ohtani
2. Sightseer 1969 Toyota 2000GT, 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 Ito
3. Traveller 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R, 1989 Nissan Pao Nangan, Minamino
4. Pathfinder 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3, 1984 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, 1962 Lincoln Continental, 1998 Nissan #23 Pennzoil NISMO Skyline GT-R Ohtani, Shimanoyama, Hokubu, Takashiro
5. Navigator 1997 Mitsubishi Montero Evolution, 1997 Lamborghini Diablo SV Shimanoyama, Ito
6. Adventurer 1998 Nissan R390 (GT1), 2005 Mitsubishi #1 Sierra Sierra Enterprises Lancer Evolution Time Attack Ohtani, Shimanoyama
7. Master Explorer 1983 Nissan #11 Tomica Skyline Turbo Super Silhouette, 1991 Mazda #55 Mazda 787B Ito, Takashiro

The two cars most players are chasing, the Mazda 787B and the Tomica Skyline, both need the final gold Master Explorer stamp.

Step 3: Search the zone

  1. Open the map after every new stamp. Newly unlocked barns appear as a broad search area, not an exact location.
  2. Drive into the zone and look for side tracks. Barns are almost always tucked away at the end of narrow dirt paths, in woods or behind trees, rather than beside the main roads.
  3. Use Drone Mode if you're stuck. Flying the drone over the search area makes it much easier to spot the roof.
  4. Drive up to the barn. A short cutscene plays showing the car's condition, and the find is logged.

A couple of spots are easy to pin down. The Toyota 2000GT sits on Ito's eastern edge, among the trees near the seawall and beach. The Lincoln Continental is in Hokubu, in the trees just south of the colorful flower fields.

Step 4: Wait for the restoration

After the cutscene, the car is taken away to be cleaned up and repaired. Restoration runs on a timer while you play, and the finished car shows up in your garage in mint condition. You can pay credits to finish the job instantly, but it's rarely worth it. The wait passes on its own if you keep racing and exploring, and those credits are better spent elsewhere.

Tips

  • Combine stamp grinding with mascot hunting. Mascots move you toward the next barn and pay out credits at the same time.
  • Clear barns in batches. Pathfinder unlocks four barns at once, across four different regions. Plan a loop that hits all of them in one trip.
  • Bring an off-road capable car. Several barns sit up dirt tracks and short hills. A car that handles gravel saves you a lot of reversing.
  • Keep an eye out for Treasure Cars. They're a separate collectible, also hidden off the main roads, and you'll pass plenty of them while hunting barns.

Common mistakes

  • Chasing wristbands to unlock barns. Festival progress doesn't unlock Barn Finds. Only Discover Japan stamps do.
  • Driving to a barn before its stamp. If you haven't reached the required tier, the barn isn't there yet, even if you're standing on the right spot.
  • Expecting an exact map pin. The search zone only narrows the area down. You still have to find the building yourself.
  • Paying to skip the restoration. It's tempting, but the car finishes on its own while you play.
  • Missing a car you expected. If a specific car hasn't shown up, check the table above for the stamp it needs before searching again.
